Homework

Termly Homework

Each term the children have a topic homework grid where they can choose to complete any of the tasks, it is recommended that the children try one activity from the grid each week to extend their knowledge and understanding of the learning for that term. The activities have been chosen to be fun and engaging and lots of children from Adventurers class have already brought in an amazing selection of homework pieces from our last topics!

Summer Term: First World War

Spring Term: Rocks, Relics and Rumbles

Autumn Term: Through the Ages

Spelling and word knowledge are key components in the process of learning to read and write. The game aspect of Spelling Shed ensures children are engaged and eager to practice their spellings regularly. The low-stakes games, quizzes and reward systems ensure that children find spelling fun. Each child has been provided with their own spelling shed login for home so that they can access the games based on their spellings each week.

During Year 4 the children will participate in a Multiplication Test Check, the purpose of the MTC is to determine whether pupils can recall their times tables fluently, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It helps us as a school to identify pupils who have not yet mastered their times tables, so that additional support can be provided.

The test is an on-screen check consisting of 25 times table questions where each child will have 6 seconds to answer each question. On average, the check should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete. You do not need to do anything additional to prepare your child for the check, however if you would like to practice with your child at home that would be extremely helpful. In school we will using Times Tables Rock Stars to support the children with regular practice of their times tables. Each child will have their own login that they will be able to bring home.
