Our Early Years pupils begin writing straight away. Read, write, Inc phonics gives them daily practice of recognising letter sounds but it also teaches letter formation. Before long, pupils are writing labels, captions and quickly progressing to simple sentences and short narratives. By the time they are ready for KS1, they have developed all the necessary basic writing skills to progress into competent and confident writers.
