Spelling Shed is an educational Subscription which Whitstone School has recently invested in. Children who have completed the phonics scheme in Early years transition onto the Spelling Bee Scheme of learning in class after being assessed at the appropriate level.

Spellings are introduced at the start of each week and then followed by daily activities and challenges to help learn new spelling patterns. In additional to the teacher's scheme of set words, there are also additional challenges or assignments which teachers can assign to specific groups and individuals. These can be accessed by a pupil log-in which gives access to these assignments in the form of games to play both in school or at home on a computer or via the APP on a tablet.

We are currently just using the Scheme to teach in classes from Year 3 upwards but will soon be rolling it out to younger pupils to access the games aspect in order to consolidate their phonics. 

Each week, pupils who have performed well in their spelling lessons and made good progress or shown good effort will be put forward for the weekly Spelling Bee prize in our Celebration Assembly.
