Welcome to Sapling Class!
This is the class page for Miss Mars, Miss Burgess and the Year 3/4 children at Whitstone.
We are super detectives and really enjoy finding out about different topics each term, allowing us to link our ideas and learning throughout different subject areas. Each term, our classroom is transformed to reflect the area we are currently studying so that we have the opportunity to become fully immersed in the topic.
Our first topic for this year is going to be Misty Mountain, Winding River! Where we will be exploring the characteristics and features of a river, including how they shape the landscape over time and their significance around the world. We will have the opportunity to learn about the stages of the water cycle, how to locate and plot geographical places on a map, as well as find out how contour lines are used to show the topography of an area. We will be finishing the term using a case study of the Somerset Levels Flooding to understand how human and natural influences can have an impact on the environment.
Our learning is going to be taking us to some amazing places this year from the wonderful world of Narnia to our very own Stonehenge! To join us on our learning journey this year and for any further information about each of our topics that we will be covering, please click on the term links below. We can't wait to share our learning with you and we hope you'll be back again soon to see what we've been up to!
