Argent (and other colours) of Shield

This term, for our (Oak Class) topic, which has the alliterative and evocative title of Peasants, Princes and Pestilence, we have been investigating life in Medieval times.

We designed some shields for ourselves. In the design, we included heraldic devices and symbols that reflected our interests and hobbies.

In heraldry, animals, both real and mythical, also have symbolic meanings, representing desirable traits and characteristics: the cat - vigilance; the lion - courage; the badger - bravery; the beaver - perseverance.

Later, we shall reproduce these designs onto 'life-size' cardboard shields.
